Really is the best of both worlds - ultra compact!

Via DESIGN BOOM: sony has just announced plans to produce an ultra-compact digital camera with large interchangeable lenses. the new line of cameras aims to combine the small scale portability of standard point and shoots, with image quality and versatility of larger digital SLRs. the new line was just announced at the annual camera show PMA (photo marketing association). the camera uses sony's own APS-sized exmor HD CMOS sensor and will have the ability to capture HD video. the new camera has a sleek design and will presumably come in a variety of colours.

100 days In Glacier National Park

This blog chronicles photos of Glacier National Park over 100 consecutive days, starting on May 1, 2009 by Glacier Park Magazine editor Chris Peterson. When the project is complete, it will be a traveling show in 2010 to commemorate Glacier's Centennial. He used a mix of film and digital cameras, including an 8 by 10 field camera, a Kodak Pocket Vest camera, circa 1909, and a Speed Graphic, among others. The idea was to use the cameras that would have been used over the course of the Park's 100 years. Day-to-day work is done primarily with a Nikon digital camera. all 100 days HERE

 

 

New Zealand Book Council, "Going West"

An incredible achievement - Using around 3,000 still images, Andersen M Studio has animated an extract from Maurice Gee's novel, Going West, for the New Zealand Book Council...

"The entire film is handmade, using only 10A scalpel blades and paper," explains Martin Andersen. "It was photographed on two SLR cameras and lit using Dedo lights." via CR

Leica has confirmed the launch of a limited edition of its M7 camera, the Leica M7 Hermes Edition.

The Leica M7 Hermes Edition is the second collaboration between Leica and Hermes, there will only be 200 of this limited edition Leica M7 produced, 100 in orange and 100 in green, and each camera will features a special sequential serial number between 001 and 200. via GG

I was searching for Chopper (motorcycle) and came across this unbelievable image and great quote via the daily dish.

This was sent to me and I cannot confirm it independently but it's of a helicopter rescue mission in Afghanistan. Sometimes we forget what amazing people we have in the military - people with skills and balls most of us cannot even imagine. Whatever our differences about strategy and policy, I really don't see any evidence that the vast majority don't respect - even revere - the troops who are out there. I don't mean this as a typical look-at-me-I'm-a-patriot-Fox-News kind of gesture. But these kids are astonishing.

M+B exhibition of color photographs by ANDREW BUSH "VECTOR PORTRAITS"

Los Angeles, described as “72 suburbs in search of a city,” is known for its miles of freeways, surface streets and legendary traffic. Because of that time spent in cars there is an ambiguous space, neither public nor private, that is conjured up in these air-conditioned living rooms on wheels. Bush describes this twilight space of driving as the amalgamation of “the maneuvering and direction and the speed . . . [making one] feel they are untouchable, in control of their destiny, in a private world of their own”.  In this series, Bush captures a cross section of the city in this illusory state. more info via M+B

BORN in Milan, Italy, Sacha Waldman spent his childhood in South Africa.
After graduating from university, he left African soil to live in London for four
years to test the waters in graphic design and film. A desire to stay close to the
creative process naturally let him to photography and in 1995, Waldman moved to
New York City and eventually became an American citizen.

SACHA is best known for a signature style that combines elegance with meticulously
controlled texture and palette, and he possesses a rare ability to convert raw ideas into compelling, exquisitely crafted imagery.
