It has been a long time coming - but we are finally here. Baxter of California is well known for producing premium "product", and now we can add "service" to our repertoire. Introducing BAXTER FINLEY, Barber & Shop: located in Los Angeles (515 North La Cienega Blvd, 90048). Just north of Opening Ceremony, and neighbors with Craft (men's work wear and apparel). The shop is VERY traditional, offering only cuts and shaves - with no spa services on the menu.
CONCEPT: We see guys trending to tradition, so whether we are talking fashion, or choice of barber, guys are looking for simple and traditional surroundings. The shop is NOT a lounge, or place to get spa services. We want to keep it simple and build a reputation for excellence in barbering and service.”
LOOK: The aesthetic is certainly masculine ... and the elements used were specifically chosen to create a traditional look, but also to blend textures (such as fine leather, and porcelain chairs + rough cut reclaimed Douglas fir flooring) allowing the space to be usable and comfortable.
Opens on May 1st. 2010 (soft opening) with an official grand opening in June 2010.

Baxter of California INTRODUCES
“baxter finley, barber & shop”
New Barber Shop Opens in Los Angeles, CA (May 1st, 2010)
Los Angeles, CA (April 30, 2010) – Baxter of California, the premium men’s grooming line since 1965, is getting into the service business with their first Barber Shop, “Baxter Finley Barber & Shop”. Aptly named after the brands founder, Mr. Baxter Finley, the new shop name is considered as an homage to brands founder.
Located at 515 N. LaCienega Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA – just a few hundred feet North of Opening Ceremony will be the flag ship 4 chair barber shop. Designed and built with an old world, masculine charm … the shop has chairs from the early 1900’s (restored ultra-rare Koken “White King” models), reclaimed Douglas Fir flooring, custom made oak/marble back bars, subway tile walls … and everything you expect to find in an authentic old school barber shop.
Baxter Finley barbers will don custom made gingham check pull-over shirts made exclusively for the shop by Steven Alan.
“We see guys trending to tradition”, Says Baxter President, J.P Mastey. “Whether we are talking fashion, or choice of barber, guys are looking for simple and traditional surroundings. Our shop will not be a lounge, or place to get spa services. We want to keep it simple and build a reputation for excellence in barbering and service.”
The shop is owned by Baxter of California President, J.P Mastey. At the service-helm, Jason Simao and Shane Middleton are the lead barbers and managers for the shop. With a basic cuts and shaves only menu, the shop will focus on great service and skilled barber techniques – no ESPN on a flat screen TV, and sorry, but no complimentary beer.
The shop will be a showcase for the Baxter grooming products and shaving tools, but will also stock goods from retaW (Japan), Dr. Bronners, D.R. Harris, Marvis tooth paste, and more. The shop will open on May 1, 2010, with a grand opening slated for June 2010.
