Collaboration Kit to Launch at Select Retailers for Holiday

Los Angeles, (November 2011) – Baxter of California, the premium men’s grooming line since 1965, once again collaborates with the highly regarded Japanese brand; Porter, on a custom designed “Grooming Kit”.

Under Baxter’s new moniker “ GROOMING IMPLEMENTS”, (which includes past collections like the Swiss made combs) the company expands the range of implements to include a custom designed kit, consisting of a nail clipper, glass nail file, and tweezers.

The PORTER (MADE IN JAPAN) kit is made of a Denier Nylon Twill (pearl metallic coating) outer, a durable Denier Cordura Nylon Ox lining, and constructed with a shock proof padding to protect the contents. Finished with a new style matte black YKK symmetric zipper which enables the user to close the bag smoothly regardless in which direction, upward, downward, left or right.

The contents include a stainless steel nail clipper and tweezers made in SOLIGEN Germany (individually sharpened and tested for precision). Also included in the kit is a durable and long lasting tempered GLASS nail file, with a pointed tip for cleaning nails.

Tuesday night, Baxter Finley Barber & Shop hosted a celebration at its Los Angeles flagship location for friends of the brand including local tastemakers, retail partners and clients.  The event offered an exclusive preview of the shop’s expansion which doubled its footprint on La Cienega just one block south of Melrose.  The new square footage features exposed brick, reclaimed hardwood floors, custom-built back bars and a vintage children’s chair alongside the impeccably restored Koken barber chairs.  The shop’s growth allows for more certified barbers on staff to handle classic barbering services such as beard trims, haircuts and straight razor shaves featuring a proprietary hot towel treatment.  An expanded retail space now houses a refined selection of men’s grooming products and essentials from international brands such as RetaW (Baxter Finely is one of only two shops in North America to carry the line), Marvis Toothpaste and D.R. Harris.  The space also includes newly launched hair pomades, White Wood candle series, Swiss-made combs and shaving accessories from its parent company, Baxter of California. BAXTER OF CALIFORNIA  extends the “flammable” soy wax candle series with the introduction of WHITE WOOD, Series TWO. The new scented-soy-wax-candle collection “White Wood” is a series of 3 distinct woodsy scents.

“White Wood” is designed by Marc Atlan, an art director with packaging credits including Comme des Garçons, Helmut Lang and Yves Saint Laurent. Atlan, whose résumé previously includes projects for Baxter of California, describes his design as “a play on the contrast between a classic restrained elegance and a bold modern statement”.

Baxter X Stussy "SKATE SOAP"

New Bar Soap titled “SKATE SOAP” launches September 2011

Baxter of California, the premium men’s grooming line since 1965, teams up with STUSSY JAPAN on “SKATE SOAP”.

Branded under the Stussy Japan “Stussy Livin’ General Store” moniker, the new collaboration product is a glycerin soap molded to scale in the shape of a 58 mm skate wheel. The scent is titled “Rain Shower”, a high performing, ultra green fragrance. (Fresh bamboo blended with amber and oak-moss and rounded out by jasmine)

Both brands are rooted in California with heritage dating back to the early 80’s (Stussy) and the mid 60’s (Baxter of California), and have a strong appreciation for the history and culture of the California lifestyle.


The bar will retail for $7 and is available at Baxter Finley barber & shop, Stussy locations worldwide and online at baxterofcalifornia.com  + stussy.com.
